En Cévennes, la géographie du paysage a permis aux habitants de résister, notamment, au cœur des forêts, grâce aux grottes naturelles. Celles-ci, peu accessibles, permettaient l’établissement de lieux de vie et de réunions cachées à ceux qui ont lutté pour la liberté de conscience et pour leur liberté de culte face à l’armée du roi lors de la guerre des Camisards (1702-1710). De ce fait historique nait l’idée d’un paysage-refuge qui a vu l’histoire passer. Les grottes ont également accueilli les humains et les animaux longtemps avant cela, dans toutes les régions du monde.
La grotte représente aussi une métaphore de la camera obscura, d’où le choix d’utiliser le trou d’épingle comme objectif photographique.
Depuis le temps où ces grottes des Cévennes ont servi de refuge aux résistants camisards, la nature a certainement peu changée. Il est intéressant alors de voir ce paysage comme ils l’ont vu de leurs propres yeux autour et depuis la grotte.

In the Cévennes, the geography of the landscape enabled the inhabitants to resist, particularly in the heart of the forests, thanks to natural caves. These caves, which were difficult to access, provided hidden places to live and meet for those who fought for freedom of conscience and freedom of worship against the king's army during the War of the Camisards (1702-1710). This historical event gave rise to the idea of a landscape-refuge that has witnessed history unfold. Caves have also provided shelter for humans and animals long before that, in all regions of the world.
The cave also represents a metaphor for the camera obscura, hence the choice to use a pinhole as a photographic lens.
Since the time when these caves in the Cévennes served as a refuge for the Camisard resistance fighters, nature has certainly changed little. It is therefore interesting to see this landscape as they saw it with their own eyes around and from the cave.
